My commitment to innate human value springs from the belief that we are individually created in the image of God, that He loves us, is for us, and wants to be in relationship with us. I love God’s presence and His Word, and have come to an understanding that when emotions go ‘sideways,’ and we are unable to feel His Presence, a knowledge of scripture helps to anchor us until the storm passes. Additionally, I have found the Word to have a profound ability to wash and heal.
I often work with people whose spirituality is not the same as mine, and I have deep respect for their choice(s). I have been able to successfully compartmentalize my belief system, as I serve the wonderful people who come to me for therapy.
A wide variety of life experience adds weight and perspective to my counseling. I have owned a small store-front business-I know what it is like to hire, fire and manage employees. I have ranched extensively, and foster parented. I have lived with a painful physical injury, and immune system issues for years. I know what it is like to pinch pennies, and live paycheck to paycheck. I have grieved the death of my dad and a grandbaby. I have been through a very painful first marriage, and divorce. I know what it feels like to be deeply wounded by trusted others, and then to slowly heal and forgive. I also know what it is like to have to humble myself and ask forgiveness. I have gone through my own counseling and inner healing. I have learned from the example of my wonderful mom, how to cultivate a thankful heart.
I have been very happily married for 33 years, my second marriage. My husband and I have 'a bunch' of children and grandchildren-we love hanging out with them.
I like to hike and sit around the fire-pit with family and friends. I like to dangle my feet in the creek. I like to garden. I like to write. I love my family and I love people. I love my horses, dogs and cats. I love to sing and play the piano, I love to worship, and I am a closet dancer.
I love living in the wildness of the mountains. The tall trees, rushing water, and clean air feed my soul. I have always been a mountain woman at heart!
